Meal Maker Potato Roast

Meal maker or Soya chunks pairs well with potato. The other day when i planned for potato tawa roast, i noticed i hardly had two potatoes. Just tried altering the plan, and here it is, Meal maker potato roast. Soya chunks being bland by nature needs perfect cooking to get the texture and flavor. No one would prefer a soggy soya chunks on their plate.


Potato 2 boiled and cut into big cubes

Soya chunks 1/2 cup

Crushed garlic 2 tablespoon

Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon

Garam masala 1/ teaspoon

Curry leaves 1 sprig

Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon

Oil 2 tablespoon

Salt as needed

How to start?

Add soya chunks to a vessel filled with water and allow it to boil for 5 minutes. Drain the water and wash the soya chunks in running water 3 times. Squeeze the water completely from the chunks and set aside.

Heat oil in a kadai, add fennel seeds and crushed garlic. Fry it for a minute. Now add the potatoes and fry in the oil for a minute. Add soya chunks, red chilli powder, curry leaves and salt. Give it a good mix and simmer the stove for 10 minutes.

Toss the mixture every 2 minutes to cook evenly. Let the masala get well coated. Add garam masala finally and let the potatoes turn a little crisp. Switch off the flame and transfer it to a bowl.

Spicy potato meal maker roast is ready serve with rice!!
